Energy Drink vs Pre-Workout: Which Is Better Before the Gym?

It is a fair question, and most lifters have asked it standing in front of a gas station cooler on the way to the gym. An energy drink is cold, convenient, and already caffeinated. A pre-workout takes a scoop, a shaker, and a few minutes of planning. If both wake you up, does the difference actually matter?
It does, and the reason has almost nothing to do with caffeine.
What an Energy Drink Is Actually Built to Do
Energy drinks are beverages first. They are engineered around carbonation, flavor, and a caffeine dose that delivers a noticeable lift.
