Without meaningful human evidence, it doesn’t meet our bar, so we don’t use it.
A plant steroid pitched as a “natural anabolic.” The excitement rests on one small human study plus animal and cell data — not a replicated body of evidence. On top of that, testing has repeatedly found supplements that don’t contain the ecdysterone they claim. Until the human results are reproduced at scale and the raw material can be trusted, it doesn’t meet our bar.
Sold for recovery and muscle growth on the premise that it delivers IGF-1. Controlled human trials haven’t shown meaningful performance or body-composition benefits, and any IGF-1 taken orally is broken down in digestion. It’s also flagged by anti-doping bodies. No real upside, real downside — so we skip it.
The amino acids themselves matter — but sold on their own, BCAAs are largely redundant. To build muscle you need the full set of essential amino acids, which a normal protein intake already provides. Spending on standalone BCAAs buys little that whole protein or EAAs don’t already cover, so we don’t build around them.
Cordyceps, lion’s mane, and similar mushrooms are interesting compounds, but the human evidence for gym performance, strength, or endurance is thin and inconsistent, and blends rarely disclose meaningful doses. We’d rather wait for real data than sell hope in a proprietary blend.
